About this Project

Sons & Daughters of Thunder Liberation Center Liberia, is a deliverance, healing, rehabilitation, restoration, vocational training, and discipleship program that consists of homes and centers called Thunder House in Liberia, West Africa. Michael and his team rehabilitate and disciple the drug addicted population of Liberia, which consists of former child soldiers and disadvantaged youth. They equip the people who come to their program with the tools, skills, and spiritual foundation necessary to live their new drug-free lives as Disciples of Jesus Christ, and help them become successful, productive, law-abiding citizens in Liberian society.

The economic and social factors exacerbating the drug abuse problem in Liberia are significant. It is estimated that 79% of the population comprises young people between the ages of 15 and 36, and at least 85% are jobless due to a lack of education and skills. This widespread unemployment limits their chances of accessing social, economic, and political opportunities, pushing many towards drug use and criminal activities.

Michael and his team are currently rescuing men who are addicted to drugs out of the ghettos, cemeteries, swamps, garbage dumps, and drug smokehouses all over Liberia and bringing them into their Thunder House Drug Rehabilitation Discipleship Program. By the power of the Holy Spirit in Jesus name, people are getting healed, the demons of drug addiction are being cast out, and disciples are being made. Men who were once living in the tombs of the graveyard, using drugs and committing crimes, are now being reunited with their families and integrated back into communities all across Liberia.

Michael and his team have received over 250 men into their program over the last 4 years, and have a 70-80% success rate of program participants remaining drug-free after 9-12 months of treatment. This is an incredible accomplishment in a country where it is estimated that 25% of the population is reported to be addicted to drugs, in a country with a population of 5.56 million.

Women affected by drug abuse often face deeper layers of trauma and stigma, and are exploited and driven into the sex trade because of their addiction. In Liberia, there are very few drug rehabilitation centers that take women... We want to change this. Sons & Daughters of Thunder Ministries have an initiative currently to construct and open a women-only drug rehabilitation discipleship home near their program headquarters in Caldwell, Liberia.
